INDIANAPOLIS (May 14, 2012) — TechPoint, Indiana’s technology growth initiative, recognized the state’s high-tech success stories during its 13th annual Mira Awards gala presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday. BKD Managing Partner Rob Pruitt and Sproutbox Co-founder Brad Wisler served as co-hosts for the event known as "Indiana’s Technology Oscars."

TechPoint’s Mira awards program is a critical function of growing entrepreneurship and advancing Indiana’s tech sector, because identifying excellence and innovation is essential to sparking more growth. More than 122 Indiana technology companies, organizations and individuals entered the Mira Awards this year, which TechPoint announced as the largest class of nominees and finalists in the program’s 13-year history.

ExactTarget, leading global provider of email marketing and cross-channel interactive marketing software-as-a-service solutions, received Information Technology Company of the Year honors at the Mira Awards. ExactTarget employs 1,100 people, has more than 4,700 clients, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in March this year.

The judges split the IT Company of the Year award into two awards this year, recognizing IT companies with fewer than 100 employees, and creating a new category called "Emerging IT Company of the year. Eight-year-old product recommendation and personalized shopping experience software provider iGoDigital took home Emerging IT Company of the Year honors for its significant revenue and employment growth, as well as its rise to prominence in its product category.

IVM, Inc. won the Innovation of the Year Mira Award for its vending and distribution solutions technology that allows its clients to contain costs and manage distribution of consumable supplies to their employees. IVM is the only company in the world that currently applies cutting edge technology utilizing cellular connectivity for vending distribution.


This year, start-up company Tinderbox received the IT Startup of the Year award. Tinderbox uses technology to improve sales and revenue processes by increasing productivity and decreasing the sales cycle.

Sensory Technologies, a Markey's Video Images Company won the IT Services Excellence & Innovation award because of its achievements creating innovative and creative solutions to previously unsolvable problems in healthcare, security, and other complex technology applications.

POLARIS Laboratories LLC won the Corporate IT Excellence & Innovation Mira award because of the organization’s ability to create a flexible, proprietary technology to accommodate rapidly evolving global business demands.

The Health Information Technology Mira went to Indiana Health Information Exchange, Inc., which is working to create a national exchange platform to facilitate the acquisition, aggregation, and analysis of clinical information as part of an effort to improve care outcomes and lower costs.

Raidious won the Mira award for New Media Excellence & Innovation for creating the Social Media Command Center that was an integral part of an unprecedented interactive effort by the 2012 Indianapolis Host Committee for Super Bowl XLVI.

Two education category awards highlighted an institution and an individual who are helping to shape Indiana’s next generation of technologists and entrepreneurs. The Technology in Education Excellence & Innovation – Team, Department or Program went to Courseload, the leading device, and content source­neutral aggregator and distributor of digital textbooks and course materials

Dr. Ali Jafari, Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI, received the Technology in Education Excellence & Innovation – Individual award for his contributions to revolutionizing education through technology. Seven of Dr. Jafari’s innovations have been licensed or commercialized to date.

Michael Langellier, Chief Evangelist & VP Business Development for MoneyDesktop – the new parent company of Langellier’s startup MyJibe – received the TechPoint Young Professional of the Year Mira Award, which recognizes an individual under 30 years old who demonstrates excellence in her or his professional tech sector position as well as contributes to the industry and society in positive ways outside of her or his career. Langellier was chosen by the TechPoint board of directors in part for his remarkable achievement of creating a technology company and leading it full-circle to an equity event after less than nine months on the market.

In March, the TechPoint Foundation for Youth announced Todd Whitlock, Technology, Curriculum and Testing Coordinator at North Daviess Community School Corporation in Elnora in Daviess County; and Co-founder of EdTechZone LLC won the Bridge Builder award. Whitlock was chosen for his significant and lasting contributions in transforming education by providing Indiana students with 21st Century, high-tech classroom and out-of-classroom experiences. Last month, TechPoint announced that Aprimo Co-founder Bill Godfrey would be named the Trailblazer in Technology award recipient for his significant and lasting contributions to Indiana’s high-tech economy. (See "Bill Godfrey is TechPoint’s 2012 Trailblazer in Technology" from April 24, 2012.)

Godin has written 14 books and all of them have been best-sellers.

Godin writes about the post-industrial revolution, the way ideas spread, marketing, quitting, leadership, and most of all, changing everything. He also founded several companies, including Yoyodyne, which pioneered permission marketing, and Squidoo, which is among the 100 most visited websites in the United States.
